Dragos Gheorghiu "Artchaeology. A sensorial approach to the materiality of the past", UNArte, Bucarest 2009
30 ottobre 2009

One of the specific characteristics of art is the performer's direct, sensorial contact with the shapes, textures, colors of materials, or with phenomena, in order to evoke an idea. The present book will attempt, by means of a visual discourse, to show how this sensorial experience of the materiality of the world, as lived by a group of artists, becomes a source of inspiration for the archaeologist, and that there is a subtle relationship between art and archaeology.
Dragos Gheorghiu is professor of anthropology and prehistoric ceramics st the National University of Art in Bucarest. He is the author of many books and articles on prehistoric ceramics and architecture, and published extensively with British Archaeological Reports, Archeopress, Oxford, Kluwer Academic, Blackwell and Willey and Cambridge Scholar Publishing.
A former advisory editor of Antiquity he is now in the board of the Time and Mind (Berg) and Semiotics Encyclopedia Online (Victoria University).
For a decade he directed the Vadastra Project on experimental archaeology and the last years he teach and carried experiments in Sardinia.
