Philological Disciplines and Digital Technology Computational Philology: Tradition versus Innovation

The meeting will focus on the scientific production of critical editions where the study sources are available in digital format. In this sense the discussion created between specialists from the sector will verify if, and in which way, the critical methodology will be forced to modify the traditional and consolidated approach adopted or if the technological instruments have not a particular impact on the methodological aspects, limiting them to the provision of some new services for an old discipline.

This conference's aim is to highlight the relationship between digital technology, in particular archives of digital images from inedited documents, and critical edition of old, medieval and modern texts written both with alphabetical characters and non alphabetical ones (hieroglyphics, cuneiform, musical).
