Uno dei risultati della nostra prospezione fu la scoperta della cava locale, da cui era stata estratta almeno una parte delle pietre per le piramidi di Abusir. La cava si trovava a circa 1 km a sud delle piramidi di Abusir, sul declivio orientale di un promontorio calcareo che si innalzava circa 30 metri sull'altopiano desertico. Ai piedi della cava furono identificati i resti di una via di accesso che conduceva alla cosiddetta Piramide incompiuta di Abusir.


One of the results of our survey of the site was the discovery of the local quarry in which at least a part of the stone for the Abusir pyramids was cut. The quarry lay ca 1 km to the south of the Abusir pyramids, on the eastern slope of a limestone promontory rising about 30 metres above the desert plateau. At the foot of the quarry were identified the remains of a supply road leading to the so-called Unfinished pyramid of Abusir.
