The Tomb of Harwa - Dr. Francesco Tiradritti

"Civiche Raccolte Archaeologiche di Milano" - Director Dr. Francesco Tiradritti

Harwa (720 – 680 BC) was Great Steward of Amon Divine Adoratrices Amenirdis and Shepenupet during the 25th dynasty. His tomb lies in Assasif esplanade in front of the temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari. Here a mission of the Civiche Raccolte Archaeologiche di Milano is excavating since 1995. The tomb is 4500 sq. m. and develops on four subterranean levels.

1999 campaign led to the complete clearance of the first one. At the same time some parts of the monument have been submitted to restoration. The discovery of a shabty holding regalia in his hands led to the hypothesis that Harwa was the beginner of a sort of High Dignitaries Dynasty governing Upper Egypt under Nubian Pharaohs.
