Antonio Ratti was a textile designer born in Como. He has always played a leading role both in his human and professional experience.
Shortly, this attitude led him to be one of the major Italian producers of silk textures and printed natural fibres[1].
Leader of a group very advanced in manufacturing research, he was fond of his work because of his great creativity. In a very short time he also became a great collector of textile documents, which had a key role in the designing and industrial sector as well and in 1985, he established the "Antonio Ratti Foundation"[2], followed in 1995 by the "Antonio Ratti Textile Centre" nearby MoMa.
He was considered one of the most creative representants of Italian economy and enterprise. In 1972 he was knighted for his merits in work and later he became a member of many administrative councils. Among them are R.C.S. editors, Mediobanca S.p.A., Associazione Amici di Brera, Ente di Villa Carlotta. Antonio Ratti died in 2002, aged 86.
